Hey, you're at the starting line of your college journey, and let me tell you, it can feel like a maze out there! You're looking at your high school classes and all these different "pathways" your school offers, and suddenly, you're drowning in options. I mean, how are you supposed to know at 13 or 14 what you want to do in the future? And isn't it okay if your interests change?
Well, guess what? It's totally normal for interests to change. In fact, they probably will! Today, we're diving into figuring out what makes you tick. What gets you excited? What makes you curious?
At Mosaic Scholars, we believe everyone is unique, like pieces of a mosaic coming together to create something beautiful that can change the world. So, now's the time to focus on you and figure out what makes you, well, you.
Let's start with some questions:
What extracurricular activities are you into right now? What do you love about each one, and what maybe isn't your favorite? These activities don't have to be official, like sports or band. Maybe you're an artist who loves to draw, or you're always hustling to sell stuff to your friends. What lights you up?
What other hobbies do you have? What do you find yourself doing just for fun?
3. What do you love talking about with your friends and family? Maybe you're a math whiz who's obsessed with stats, or perhaps you're always asking questions about how things work, like my daughter who's curious about medical equipment.
4. What jobs or industries do you think might match up with your interests? For example, if you're into STEM but also love art, maybe something like Disney Imagineering could be a fit.
Let's nurture that curiosity! There are endless possibilities out there for you. Don't stress about all the options. Instead, focus on what makes you unique, and let that guide you as you plan your high school courses and think about future majors. And remember, it's okay if things change along the way. Just go with the flow!
